The floating breakwater installed for the City of San Francisco’s West Harbor Marina was a record breaker for Marinetek that played its part when the City hosted the 2013 America’s Cup.
It is the heaviest built to date by Marinetek and withstands the forces of sustained winds of 44 m/s with a period of four seconds. The pontoons were cast in Antioch, California by Marinetek’s Mobile Production Team and were towed to the site and anchored in place using galvanised steel chains secured to submerged steel piles. West Harbor Marina was a pivotal site for the America’s Cup and the marina provided an ideal viewing point for spectators.
